Abstract: Let ${{C}^{\bot }}$ be the dual code of the $q$-ary linear code $C={{[n,k,d]}_{q}}$ and $S(C)=n+1-k-d=m(\ge 0)$ be the Singleton defect of $C$. This talk gives sufficient and necessary conditions for$S(C)=S({{C}^{\bot }})=m$. We show that many $m$-MDS codes can be obtained from the well-known Reed-Muller codes. Furthermore，all $q$-ary Hamming $m$-MDS codes are determined.
