摘要:Functional differential equations are important in many areas of engineering and science. The aim of this talk is to give a brief introduction on the theory and applications of FDEs.

First, various examples of functional differential equations arising in real life problems are presented. The possible effects of time delays on some of these systems are briefly discussed, which show the small delays can have large influences. Secondly, the classification and the basic theory of functional differential equations are presented. All these results are prepared for the qualitative theory and bifurcation theory of functional differential equations in infinite dimension.
