difference of two Cantor sets

A well known conjecture of Palis states that generically the difference set of two Cantor sets will contain an interval if the sum of the Hausdorff dimension of the two sets exceeds 1. We will discuss attempts by Per Larsson to prove this for a canonical family of random Cantor sets, and present our own results on this problem.This is joint work with Karoly
Simon.
