1987年7月在南京大学获得理学博士学位， 其后在华东师范大学数学系任教。1994年8月起被聘任为教授，第二年起招收博士研究生。1990年12月至1991年12月获中英友好奖学金在英国Warwick 大学数学系作访问学者， 1997年8月至1998年2月访问美国北卡州立大学和西北大学(各3个月)。1995年6月至2004年5月任数学系主任。现任中国数学会理事、上海市数学会常务理事、上海市非线性科学学会理事； 《华东师范大学学报（自然科学版）》、 《Annals of Differential Equations》与《Communications on Pure and Applied Analysis》等3种杂志编委。
　　出版专著3种，发表学术论文93篇（至2005年2月）。主持科研项目 “非线性系统大范围定性理论及分支和混沌”获得1996年国家教委科技进步三等奖；项目“非线性动力系统全局理论及其应用” 获得2002年教育部自然科学奖一等奖（与上海交大联合申请，排名第二）。
