The Asian Centre for Mathematics Education (ACME) at East China Normal University (ECNU) was founded in October 2018 by the School of Mathematical Sciences, East China Normal University (ECNU). It is located in the Minhang Campus of ECNU, Shanghai. ACME’s vision is to become a world-class institute of mathematics education research and development, and its mission is to contribute to the advancement of mathematics education research and development in China, Asia and the World. The First ACME Symposium on Mathematics Education was held in October 2018, attracting more than 150 participants including leading mathematics educators, mathematics teachers, and other people who care about the development of mathematics education from China, UK, US, Singapore and many other countries and regions. At the symposium, four plenary speakers each gave a highly welcomed speech, and the articipants shared their research results and perspetives actively at four topic study groups and many parallel sessions. The Second ACME International Symposium on Mathematics Education was held from 31st October to 3rd November, 2019, with two main themes “Mathematics Teacher Education and Professional Development” and “ICT and Mathematics Education”. The second symposium attracted more than 210 participants from many different countries and regions, and the programme consisted of six plenary addresses, six topic study groups, and five workshops and a special cultural event: a mathematical drama performance organized by the School of Mathematical Sciences, ECNU. The Third International Symposium on Mathematics Education will be held in the Minhang Campus of ECNU, Shanghai,
from 9th to 12th November 2023. The symposium is hosted by the
Asian Centre for Mathematics Education, with support from Shanghai “Nurturing Character and
Developing People” School Mathematics Education Research Base and the Shanghai Key
Laboratory of Core Mathematics and Mathematical Practice as co-organizers. Seven renowned
scholars nationally and internationally (from Chinese Mainland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, UK
and USA) will deliver plenary speeches, and we also warmly welcome participants from all over
the world to share ideas and discuss issues related to mathematics education in the symposium at
the beautiful campus of ECNU in Shanghai.
