The mathematical heart: a computational model for the simulation of the heart function

报告人介绍:Alfio Quarteroni教授是瑞士洛桑联邦理工学院 (EPFL) 的荣休教授、意大利米兰理工大学的教授、米兰理工大学建模与科学计算中心的创始人。他是欧洲科学院院士、意大利科学院院士、SIAM Fellow,分别于2002年和2006年在国际数学家大会上做45分钟和1小时邀请报告。他于2013年作冯康公众演讲、2015年获欧拉奖、2015年获伽利略国际数学奖。他的研究兴趣集中在数学建模、数值分析、科学计算、流体力学、地球物理、医学和提高运动成绩等方面。他的团队通过数值模拟对瑞士帆船Alinghi进行优化,赢得了两次美洲杯比赛。他是25本书的作者,6本书的编辑,以及斯普林格出版的两个系列丛书的主编,是多个学术期刊的副主编,已发表400多篇学术论文。

报告内容摘要:Mathematical models based on first principles can describe the interaction between electrical, mechanical and fluid-dynamical processes occurring in the heart, as well as the coupling with the external circulation. This is a classical multi-physics problem featuring multi-scale solutions in space and time. Appropriate numerical strategies need to be devised to allow for an accurate and computationally effective simulation of these processes in both physiological and pathological regimes. This presentation will address some of these issues and a few representative applications of clinical relevance.
