The Asian Centre for Mathematics Education (ACME) at East China Normal University (ECNU) was founded in October 2018 by the School of Mathematical Sciences. It is located in the Minhang Campus of ECNU, Shanghai. The vision of the Centre is to become a world-class institute of mathematics education research and development. ACME’s mission is to contribute to the advancement of mathematics education research and development in China, Asia and the World. The First ACME Symposium on Mathematics Education was held in October 2018, attracting more than 150 participantsincluding leading scholars in mathematics education, mathematics educators, mathematics teachers, and other people who care about the development of mathematics education from Mainland China, UK, US, Japan, Korea, Israel, etc. At the symposium, four plenary speakers gave a wonderful speech, respectively. It is our pleasure to continue the successful series and to announce the Second International Symposium on Mathematics Education (the Second ACME Symposium) will be held in Shanghai (China) from 31st October to 3rd November in 2019. The symposium is organized by ACME and co-organized by the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Practice, with two main themes— “Mathematics Teacher Education and Professional Development” and “ICT and Mathematics Education”—and attention for other areas in mathematics education. We will continue to invite well-known scholars and warmly welcome participants from all over the world (including Mainland China, UK, US, Japan, Korea, Israel, etc.) to share ideas and discuss issues related to mathematics education at the beautiful campus of ECNU in Shanghai.
