Some remarks on $K_0$-groups of noncommutative tori

Abstract:

In this talk, I will introduce Chakraborty's work on characterization of $K_0$-groups of noncommutative tori. A set of generators for each $K_0$-group is constructed. The construction is based on Rieffel's construction of projective modules over noncommutative tori and Li's result on Morita equivalence bimodules. It then involves Elliott's computation of tracial range and Echterhoff-L\"uck-Phillips-Walters's result on continuous fields to show that it generates the $K_0$-group.
