On Simplicity of Reduced Group $C^\ast$-algebras

Abstract:

A group is said to be $C^\ast$-simple if its reduced group $C^\ast$-algebra is simple. In this talk I will introduce some recent progress on $C^\ast$-simplicity and its relative properties (unique trace property, trivial amenable radical, etc.).
