Abstract:

Using open projections, we can classify general C*-algebras into three types in a Murray-von Neumann way. We can also do the classifications using positive elements Instead. These two methods turn out to provide equivalent classification schemes. We will also discuss other possibility in the classification due to employing different, but Somewhat equivalent, equivalence relations open projections. These results are recent joint works of Chi-Keung Ng (Nankai) and Ngai-Ching Wong (NSYSU).
