Higher index theory and higher eta invariant on symmetric spaces

Abstract:
	  I will first discuss some vanishing results of index theory and eta invariants on higher dimensional Euclidean spaces or more generally, higher rank symmetric spaces. In order to get non-trivial information, we have to develop higher index theory and higher eta invariants.  In this talk, I will base on a very special example, that is, Euclidean spaces, in which everything can be computed in an explicit way.
