Abstract:
Operator Algebra is a branch of modern analysis. It uses analysis methods to study algebra objects. The main objects are operators on Hilbert spaces. The examples of current interests include C*-algebras of crossed products from a group action on a compact metric spaces. These examples study topological dynamical systems using operator algebras. Operator algebras also are now closely related to non-commutative geometry as well as number theory and wavelets. This lecture series is an attempt to introduce operator algebras to undergraduate students as well as graduate students.
