Positive scalar curvature and cube inequality

__Abstract:__

In this talk, I will report recent joint work with Zhizhang Xie and Guoliang Yu on an index theoretical proof of the cube inequality. The cube inequality for positive scalar curvature metric is raised by Gromov. This inequality reveals that positive scalar curvature can control the scale of a manifold in a very weak sense. Gromov proved this inequality using the method of minimal surfaces for lower dimensions, and our index theoretical approach works for all dimensions. I will also mention another approach of Zhizhang Xie using a quantitative relative index theorem.
