Spinors and the tangent groupoid.

Abstract:

In this talk, I shall present a way to harmonize Getzler's symbol calculus with Connes' tangent groupoid. We shall construct a vector bundle over the tangent groupoid of a spin manifold which incorporates spinor bundle. As a consequence, the space of compactly supported sections of this vector bundle has a convolution structure and is equipped with a smooth familly of supertraces, the existence of which is almost an index theorem. This is joint work with Nigel Higson.
