文本框: This website has been modified recently. Here are some highlights on the modifications.
1. A list of invited speakers now appears in this website. These speakers have confirmed their attendances to the conference, except otherwise indicated.
2. The registration page has been updated and online registration is now ready. Please note that, due to the capacity of Lhasa to receive visitors, the total number of participants, together with their accompanying family members, is limited. Please register as soon as possible. Otherwise, you might not be accepted. Moreover, in addition to a visa to China, every foreign passport holder is required to have a special travel permit to Tibet. So some extra time is necessary for the organizers to go through the permit application process for foreign participants and their family members. This is also the reason to set different registration deadlines for participants in different categories. Thus it is crucial that the basic information on the registration form is correct and complete.
3. The registration fee is RMB1,200 in general, and RMB600 for student. An accompanying family member also has to pay RMB800 to cover the daily food and the necessary entrance tickets for the city tour during the conference. This fee is reduced to RMB400 for children under 12. Since we have difficulty in receiving payment through credit card system, the prepay method will be determined later and will be communicated personally with the participants who are required to pay.
4. Through difficult negotiation, we receive a bargain price for hotel rooms in Himalaya Hotel, which is a little higher than the actual price we got for the ICM-2002 satellite conference. However, we believe it is understandable to our participants, as small inflation exists in the last few years on one hand, and the establishment of Qinghai-Tibet railway makes Lhasa a hot tourist spot especially during the summer time on the other hand.
5. All participants who will (or plan to) give a talk in the conference are required to submit an abstract. The deadline for submitting abstracts is May 31, 2007. Only LaTeX files are acceptable.
6. In the transportation page, information on trains between Shanghai and Lhasa is added. We emphasize again that train tickets to/from Lhasa are in terribly short supply during the summer time, especially tickets between Lanzhou/Xining and Lhasa. If participants ask, we will try our best to get tickets. But we cannot promise. Please understand this. Fortunately, airplane tickets are always in good supply. So, nobody would miss the conference.
7. Two different schedules for after-conference tours are added to the excursions page. Please let us know if you have any suggestions about the tours. We still have chance to discuss details with the travel agency.
